About Tooth Extractions
At ACE Dental of Taylor, we strive to preserve the health of natural teeth whenever possible. But in some instances, a simple or surgical tooth extraction may be necessary to restore oral health. When a tooth is visible above the gumline and can be taken out of its socket rather easily, a simple extraction is performed. Surgical extractions may be indicated for conditions, like impacted wisdom teeth or when other teeth are more difficult to remove from the mouth. We take a gentle approach in performing tooth extractions for patients of all ages, whether it is to remove retained baby teeth or to treat wisdom tooth pain. Nitrous oxide sedation may also be used to help further ensure a comfortable visit. If you or a loved one may need a tooth extraction, please contact our Taylor, TX practice today to reserve your visit.
Tooth Extractions Reviews
"I went in with a disintegrating upper molar and I was expecting the worse since I have no dental insurance. They discovered the other 10 cavities in my mouth and created a plan to fix those cavities before they broke apart like my molar. This became 10 fillings and a tooth extraction. I was expecting to pay over $2000 for all of that but the price of all of that was around 50% of that price. I'm definitely going back for dental implants and continued cleanings from Ace."- P.G. / Facebook / Jul 02, 2017

Who Is a Candidate for Tooth Extractions?
Patients of all ages, from children to adults, may be in need of a tooth extraction. Some individuals may need to have stubborn baby teeth removed to make way for the permanent teeth to emerge while teenagers who need orthodontic care may need to have teeth removed to facilitate tooth alignment. Wisdom teeth extractions are often performed for those ages 17 – 21, as these molars are frequently impacted and lack insufficient space to fully erupt. Our team may also recommend tooth extractions for several other dental issues, such as severely decayed or abscessed teeth, broken or cracked teeth, and advanced bone loss from periodontal disease.
What To Expect During the Procedure
When you arrive for your tooth extraction, we will have you relax comfortably in one of our modern treatment rooms. A local anesthetic will be used to numb your mouth, but nitrous oxide sedation may also be available to help you feel even more at ease. For simple extractions, we will gently loosen the tooth from the jaw and lift it out of the socket. Surgical extractions require us to make incisions in your gum tissues in order to fully access the tooth. When necessary, we may section the tooth into separate pieces to make it easier to remove from the jaw. At the extraction, our dentists may place sutures in the surrounding gums to help the healing process.
Recovery Following Tooth Removal
Instructions on how to take care of your mouth as you heal will be provided at the end of your visit. For the next few days, it is important that you avoid using a straw, spitting, or smoking, particularly after wisdom teeth extractions. To help address any discomfort or swelling, our dentists may suggest applying cold packs to the face or may prescribe pain relievers or antibiotic mediations. In addition to a post-extraction visit, we recommend that you keep up with routine dental care at ACE Dental of Taylor so we can track your oral health following tooth removal. If you required the extraction of a functional tooth, our team can also help you choose an appropriate tooth replacement option.
Insurance Coverage for Tooth Extractions
While simple and surgical tooth extractions may be partially covered by dental insurance plans, sedation dentistry services may be an out-of-pocket expense. We will be sure to review your insurance benefits beforehand and will advocate on your behalf to maximize your coverage. To help you get the personalized, affordable dental care you need, ACE Dental of Taylor proudly accepts a range of convenient payment solutions and can help you apply for medical financing.
